Pastor Ray E. Murphy
Ray E. Murphy was born on March 16, 1975 and is the oldest of five siblings. He was educated in the Detroit Public Schools, graduating from Cass Tech High School in 1993 and later attended Tennessee State University.
In 1997, he accepted his call to the ministry of preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ. With the urging of his Pastor since childhood, Dr. Everett Jennings Sr., he attended William Tyndale College to further pursue his calling to the ministry. He majored in Religious Education. While in pursuit of his bachelor’s degree, he earned his Associates Degree in Christian Education. After graduating in 2002, Ray Murphy went on to matriculate at Virginia Union University in Richmond, VA., at the Samuel Dewitt Proctor School of Theology graduating with a Masters Degree in Divinity.
Ray Murphy has served at the New Providence Baptist Church under the pastorate of Dr. Everett Jennings Sr. since his calling, licensure and ordination to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. At the New Providence Baptist Church, Rev. Ray Murphy has served in many capacities: the choir, media ministry, teaching ministry for the Hour of Power (i.e. Sunday School). He is also an instructor for the New Membership classes.
Rev. Ray E. Murphy has preached throughout the city of Detroit, in various churches for varying events including youth day events, and has been part of the BM&E teaching aggregate.
Ray is married to the lovely JaQuita Murphy, together they have three children.
Rev. Murphy has continued to fulfill his calling to the ministry of preaching the Gospel, by being involved with community outreach programs and being instrumental in the lives of Detroit’s youth through mentorship and guidance programs.
